I won’t beat around the bush on this review of twitter HummingBird, that’s because the new version of HummingBird 2.0 is really practical, somewhat harder to get used to at first, that’s the first turn down I’ve found about this new version. But once you get the hang of it, getting followers become an easy and automated task.

On this version of Twitter HummingBird, there is an “Engine” that searches for people using a keyword chosen by you to follow, for instance, let’s say you want to follow people that are twitting about “Weight loss”, so all you have to do is to entry this keyword on the engine option and every time someone tweet this keyword, if it matches other criteria that you choose, it will automatically follow that person. This is good and also bad if you ask me, because if you want followers to sell a product, it’s most likely that the engine will only find people that is already marketing a product instead of finding people that is looking for that product or more information about it.

In this HummingBird version 2.0 the chances of you being banned by following too much people in an unnatural way is almost zero, since it is almost like if a human was following, because you don’t follow a list of people like on the previous versions. As a matter of fact, I don’t think they should have taken this feature on this new version, that’s because I really liked following a big amount of people per day and fast, but with this version it is a really hard thing to do, since it uses this engine that is driven by keywords.

The good thing is that now you have total control over followers/following, so you know exactly how many people were followed as also the conversions (people that followed you back after you follow them), this way you can also see the conversion of the keyword you’re targeting on HummingBird 2.0 configuration page.

There are other tools included on this version of HummingBird, like scheduled tweets, url shortening, and so forth, actually url shortening is not a big of a deal since even other free clients like TweetDeck has it. But scheduled tweets may be really useful.

If you have money to spend and want to save time following targeted people on twitter, then HummingBird 2.0 will be a great investment, otherwise, I would ask to save your money and buy your kids a x-mas gift. The price is now reasonable, it was $127 when it first launched, but now it’s only a one time fee of $69. Anyway, you can always download the trial version and play with it a little bit, it’s free after all.
